Bio-methane Potential (BMP) is a biological test to evaluate the economic value of feedstock through its potential for methane/biogas generation with anaerobic digestion. It can also indicate the presence of inhibitory substances in the feed. The equivalent test: residual biogas potential (RBP) is now a certified method to assess the quality of digestate after AD in the UK.

With our BMP set you can test 15 different reactors at once, precisely logging all the gas  production in real time. We maintain exceptional quality data by using large 1L reactors to minimise the impact of small deviations between repeats, one 20 rpm motor to mix all 15 reactors for perfect homogeneity between reactors, and a covered water bath to maintain constant temperature and avoid water loss. At £7500 we provide this equipment at an extremely low market price.

Construct your own feedstocks' biogas potential graphs to eliminate risk when using new feedstocks, and potentially identify inhibitory substances if gas production isn't as high as usual.

Learn exactly how much your waste products are worth to inform your buying/selling decisions. High methane yields produce more energy and money so make the most out of your feedstocks by testing their gas potential.

15-cell Gas Flow Meter

15x 1L HDPE Reactor

A single 20 RPM motor powers the mixing inside all the reactors

Our Patented gearbox mechanism allows 1 motor to mix all 15 reactors for perfect consistency

The 15-hole water bath lid prevents water from evaporating from the bath, reducing maintenance needs

Grant water bath reliably controls temperature, from ambient temperature up to 85°C.

Custom 15-cell gas flow meter measures gas production in ~10ml increments (subject to calibration)

Our open source Arduino data logger records and stores the gas production data measured by the gas flow meter. When an event happens in the gas flow meter, a reed switch circuit is closed which is logged by the data logger.  The BMP280 pressure sensor and thermocouple inform the data logger to automatically convert any gas volumes to STP. Data is easily extracted at any time through USB connection with any computer.
